Circular House, Godstone
|
This was a design for a brownfield site within the Green Belt. The owner felt an 'architectural statement' was required, and a circular house fitted the bill. I have, of course, seen circular houses before, but the rooms were usually cheese-wedge shape, so the challenge here was to have comfortable, well-proportioned rooms, which flow naturally into one another. This was achieved with a central spiral staircase ascending to a circular lantern illuminating the centre of the house. |
